CBS renews Young Sheldon for three seasons

CBS has given Young Sheldon a three-season renewal, taking the show through to its seventh season in 2023/24.

Young Sheldon, which was last renewed as part of a two-season deal in 2019, is television's top-rated comedy series.

"Under Chuck Lorre's and Steve Molaro's deft leadership, this superb cast and gifted writers have truly brought these wonderful characters to life," said Kelly Kahl, President, CBS Entertainment. "YOUNG SHELDON dominates the broadcast comedy landscape by over +2.5 million viewers and is the lynchpin of CBS' top-rated Thursday comedy lineup. The humor, warmth and heart exuded by the Cooper family is an undeniable hook for the millions of fans who tune in each week. We're excited to see what the next three seasons have in store for a slightly older Sheldon and all the Coopers."

The fourth season of Young Sheldon continues this Thursday, April 1 with "A Box of Treasure and the Meemaw of Science". The season finale is set to air May 13.

CBS announces season finale dates

CBS has announced its season finale dates for the 2020/21 season. Although the pandemic led to later premiere dates and fewer episodes being produced, the finales are airing at the usual time in May.

The fourth season finale of Young Sheldon will air Thursday, May 13 at 8/7c. Later that night, Chuck Lorre's Mom will conclude its eight-season run.

CBS has not yet renewed Young Sheldon past this fourth season. The show was renewed for a third and fourth season back in February 2019.

A Pager, a Club and a Cranky Bag of Wrinkles – Dr. Linkletter (Ed Begley, Jr.) pushes Sheldon to make friends with his fellow students at college. Also, Georgie gets a pager, on Thursday, March 11 (8:00-8:31 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

Young Sheldon will be taking a short break following this episode. A rerun of "Freshman Orientation and the Inventor of the Zipper" will air March 18 and a rebroadcast of "A Philosophy Class and Worms That Can Chase You" will air March 25. The fourth season of Young Sheldon will continue April 1 on CBS.
