Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik to appear in finale
Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik will reprise their The Big Bang Theory roles in the series finale of Young Sheldon, the show's Instagram account has revealed.
The appearances of Parsons and Bialik as adult Sheldon Cooper and Amy Farrah Fowler will mark the first time The Big Bang Theory actors have physically appeared on Young Sheldon. While Parsons regularly narrates the show, Bialik has also contributed her voice twice.
In the Big Bang Theory universe, Sheldon first met Amy in 2010, and they got married in 2018. After TBBT concluded in 2019, Young Sheldon revealed that the couple eventually had children.
Young Sheldon is now in its final season on CBS. The hour-long series finale is set to air Thursday, May 16.
CBS orders Georgie and Mandy spin-off
CBS has officially ordered a Young Sheldon spin-off starring Montana Jordan and Emily Osment for the 2024/25 season.
The yet-to-be-titled show will follow Georgie and Mandy as they raise their young family in Texas. The show is a multi-camera sitcom, filmed in front of an audience like The Big Bang Theory, rather than the single-camera format of Young Sheldon.
The new show is from Young Sheldon producers Chuck Lorre, Steven Molaro, and Steve Holland. Lorre and Molaro created Young Sheldon, while Holland joined them after The Big Bang Theory ended in 2019.
Young Sheldon launched as a spin-off from The Big Bang Theory in 2017 and became the #1 new sitcom that year. Since The Big Bang Theory concluded its twelve-season run in 2019, Young Sheldon has consistently been the #1 comedy on TV.
In November 2023, CBS announced that Young Sheldon would conclude with its seventh season. The final season is currently airing Thursdays at 8/7c on CBS. The hour-long series finale will air Thursday, May 16.

Georgie and Mandy spin-off in the works at CBS
A Young Sheldon spin-off featuring new parents Georgie and Mandy is nearing a series order at CBS, according to reports.
The series is said to be a multi-camera show filmed in front of an audience, similar to The Big Bang Theory, rather than the single-camera format used in Young Sheldon.
The new project is being developed by the executive producers of Young Sheldon, Chuck Lorre, Steve Molaro, and Steve Holland. Lorre and Molaro are the creators of Young Sheldon, while Holland joined the show from The Big Bang Theory after it ended in 2019.
The new show will star Montana Jordan, who has played Sheldon's older brother Georgie since Young Sheldon debuted in 2017, and Emily Osment, who initially guest starred as Mandy McAllister in the show's fifth season before becoming a series regular in Season 6.
Georgie met Mandy at Meemaw’s laundromat, where he was working after dropping out of high school. Georgie initially lied about his age as they started a relationship. Mandy broke things off after Georgie admitted he was only seventeen, but she soon found out she was pregnant. After deciding to keep the baby, Mandy was hesitant about keeping Georgie in her life, but Georgie was determined to step up and be a responsible father. The pair later welcomed Constance Cooper (nicknamed CeeCee), named after Georgie’s Meemaw. By the end of the sixth season of Young Sheldon, Georgie and Mandy were engaged.
The new show is being prepared for the 2024/25 season and could be on air within months of Young Sheldon bowing out. The final season of Young Sheldon is set to premiere Thursday, February 15, and the hour-long series finale will air May 16.
The new Georgie and Mandy spin-off is distinct from the previously reported The Big Bang Theory spin-off which Chuck Lorre is developing for the streaming service Max, formerly HBO Max. In November, Lorre told TV Line that this project was still in its "prenatal" stage.

CBS announced back in November that Young Sheldon would end with its seventh season. The final season will consist of 14 episodes, down from the usual 22, as production on the show was delayed by last year's writers and actors strikes. Young Sheldon will bow out with an hour-long series finale on Thursday, May 16.
Young Sheldon to end with its seventh season
CBS announced today that Young Sheldon will be ending with its upcoming seventh season. The show is set to end with an hour-long series finale on Thursday, May 16.
Young Sheldon was renewed for a seventh season as part of a three-season deal back in 2021. However, production of the show's seventh season, like other network shows, was delayed due to the recent writers' and actors' strikes. CBS announced yesterday that the seventh season premiere will air Thursday, February 15. The season will contain 14 episodes, fewer than the usual 22 episodes in a typical season.
"As a prequel to one of the biggest comedies, Young Sheldon proved lightning can strike twice," said Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment. "It set itself apart with a remarkable cast that felt like a family from the first moment we saw them on screen and brought characters to life with unique heartfelt stories that drew audiences in from the start. We extend a sincere thank you to executive producers Chuck Lorre, Steve Molaro and Steve Holland and the entire writing and producing teams for six wonderful seasons. We look forward to seeing their final season unfold and giving it a proper send off with the best episodes yet for their fans to enjoy.”
"Being able to tell the origin of Sheldon Cooper, and expanding the story to include the entire Cooper family has been a wonderful experience," said executive producers Steve Holland, Steven Molaro and Chuck Lorre. "We are grateful to our fans for embracing this chapter of the Coopers these past six seasons, and on behalf of the entire Young Sheldon family, we're excited to share this final season with you.”
Young Sheldon, a spin-off from The Big Bang Theory, premiered in 2017 and was the top new comedy for the 2017/18 season. After The Big Bang Theory ended its twelve-season run in 2019, Young Sheldon took over as the leading network comedy, a position it still holds today.
In April 2023, Warner Bros. revealed that Chuck Lorre was developing a new The Big Bang Theory spin-off for its streaming service Max. A recent comment from Lorre indicated the project is still in the early stages of development.
CBS announces season premiere dates
CBS has announced the season premiere dates for its scripted content, including Young Sheldon, following the recent conclusion of the actors' strike and the writers strike that preceded it.
With the writers' strike extending into October and the actors' strike lasting until November, most shows are expected to produce only 10 to 13 episodes this season, short of the typical 22 to 24 episodes of a regular season.
CBS will launch its scripted programs in mid-February, following the Super Bowl LVIII broadcast on Sunday, February 11. After the Super Bowl, the series premiere of Tracker will debut. This new drama series stars Justin Hartley as a survivalist who traverses the country, using his expert tracking skills to solve mysteries for rewards.
Young Sheldon will return with its seventh season premiere on Thursday, February 15 at 8/7c. This will be followed by the third season premiere of Ghosts at 8:30. The second season of So Help Me Todd will premiere at 9/8c, with a repeat of the Tracker premiere scheduled for its regular time slot at 10/9c on Thursdays.
Young Sheldon has not been renewed beyond its seventh season. Executive producer Steve Holland had previously mentioned that there were discussions about whether Young Sheldon would conclude this season. Back in March, Holland recognised that the prospect of strikes meant they might not have as many episodes to tell all the stories they wish to tell this season.
