CBS has released the synopsis for the May 9 episode of Young Sheldon, "A Broken Heart and a Crock Monster".

Wallace Shawn (Dr. John Sturgis), Matt Hobby (Pastor Jeff), Nancy Linehan Charles (Peg), Brian Stepanek (Mr. Givens), Danielle Pinnock (Ms. Ingram) and Doc Farrow (Coach Wilkins) reprise their roles in the episode.

A Broken Heart and a Crock Monster - The Coopers help Pastor Jeff (Matt Hobby) through a rough patch in his marriage. Also, Sheldon pressures church members for donations when Mary takes him to work for a day, on YOUNG SHELDON, Thursday, May 9 (8:31-9:01 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

The second season finale of Young Sheldon will air the following week. CBS has already renewed the show for another two seasons, taking the show through to its fourth season in 2020/21.

Young Sheldon is preempted this Thursday, April 18, but will return with the first of the final four episodes of the season on April 25. Young Sheldon has already been renewed for a third season by CBS.

CBS announces season finale dates

CBS has announced its season finale dates for 2018/19, including the second season finale of Young Sheldon and the series finale of The Big Bang Theory.

Young Sheldon will wrap up its second season on Thursday, May 16 at the special time of 9/8c. The season finale will follow the last ever episode of The Big Bang Theory, which is ending after a twelve-season run, at 8/7c.

CBS recently renewed Young Sheldon for another two seasons, taking the show through to its fourth season in 2020/21.

CBS has released the synopsis for the next episode of Young Sheldon, "Albert Einstein and the Story of Another Mary", which air this Thursday, March 7. Ryan Phuong reprises his role as Tam in the episode.

“Albert Einstein and the Story of Another Mary” – Inspired by his hero, Albert Einstein, Sheldon tries his hand at the violin. Also, Mary and Meemaw secretly buy a pregnancy test when Mary thinks she’s pregnant, on YOUNG SHELDON, Thursday, March 7 (8:31-9:01 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

A rerun of "A Tummy Ache and a Whale of a Metaphor" will air the following Thursday, March 14. Young Sheldon will then be off air for two weeks, March 21 and March 28, as CBS airs the March Madness basketball tournament. The second season will return with new episodes on Thursday, April 4.

Young Sheldon renewed for two seasons

CBS today announced that it has renewed Young Sheldon for an additional two seasons, taking the show through to its fourth season in 2020/21.

"Thanks to Chuck Lorre's and Steve Molaro's outstanding creative leadership, YOUNG SHELDON has been a powerful performer for the Network with an audience that towers over most of the television landscape," said Kelly Kahl, President, CBS Entertainment. Added Thom Sherman, Senior Executive Vice President of Programming: "The Coopers are portrayed by an amazing cast, and we are looking forward to having the gifted writing staff mine even more of Sheldon's hilarious backstory and the warm family dynamic that has made this comedy a favorite with audiences for the past two seasons."

Young Sheldon is the #2 most-watched comedy series on TV, behind only The Big Bang Theory, and is averaging over 14.5 million viewers each week.

The double renewal comes as Young Sheldon's parent show, The Big Bang Theory, gets ready to bow out after twelve seasons on air.

Young Sheldon's second season returns to U.K.

The second season of Young Sheldon will return to U.K. screens later this month, E4 has announced. The channel aired the first seven episodes of the season last year.

Young Sheldon will return with new episodes on Thursday, January 31 at 20:30. In the next episode, "An 8-Bit Princess and a Flat Tire Genius",  Sheldon and Meemaw become addicted to video games, while Georgie sets off on the road to tire success when he takes a part-time job at Herschel Sparks' garage. Billy Gardell guest stars.

A return date for the final season of The Big Bang Theory, which airs alongside Young Sheldon on E4, has not yet been revealed.
